ENSO Workshop
Dear colleagues
ENSO is a natural hazard in Vanuatu which impacts communities and many sectors and industries, including agriculture, health, water supply, livelihoods, and disaster preparedness. With the possibility of an El Niño event occurring in late 2012, the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geohazards Department wishes to
- confirm membership of the ENSO Committee (El Niño Southern Oscillation Committee), and
- undertake an initial briefing on the ENSO Response Process (the ENSO Directive) for committee members and stakeholders.
As your organisation works in a sector affected by ENSO, please find attached an invitation to nominate a staff member to sit on the ENSO Committee. Details of what is involved in being a member of this committee are provided in the attached letter. Can you please send the name and contact details of your nominated ENSO Committee member to kmullins@meteo.gov.vu, or Kylie on phone number 24686, by Wednesday 15 August.
I would also like to invite the ENSO Committee member and other interested staff to an ENSO Response Process Workshop on Friday 24th August, from 8.30am to 1pm, at the Vanuatu Meteorological and Geohazards conference room. Lunch will be included. Please confirm attendance to the email address above by Wednesday 15th August.
