The Ministry of Climate through DEPC and IUCN will be conducting the GEF6 national stakeholder consultation from 07 – 11 November in Port Villa. This will include meeting with relevant government departments and ministries, NGOs, private sectors, civil society groups and individuals through focus group meeting, workshop and interviews with individuals. The objectives of the consultations are:

  1. Identify sector biodiversity threats and priority actions in forestry, fisheries, agriculture, biosecurity, trade and tourism
  2. Meet and discuss biodiversity issues and priorities relevant departments and ministry such as Department of Environment Protection and Conservation (DEPC), Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology, Geo-Hazards, Environment, Energy and the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).
  3. Consult with NGOs, civil society group, local community representatives and business sectors to identify key issues on environment, food security and socio-cultural and economic related factors.
  4. Conduct a stakeholder workshop to present the summary key issues, priorities and confirm priority areas to be developed as a project proposal under the Vanuatu GEF 6 biodiversity focal areas considering resource allocations and capacity.

The important priority environment sectors, NGOs and private sectors  must be consulted as the project development will reflect the country's needs with regards to priority policy objectives as well addressing financing mechanisms/needs for implementation.
