Multihazard Workshop at VCCC
This mail serves as a formal invitation to you or a representative of your organisation to attend a 1-day workshop on the impacts of multiple hazards (e.g. cyclones, volcanic eruptions) on island communities in Vanuatu. This will be held in the Vanuatu Christian Council offices, Port Vila, on Thursday 22ndAugust.
This workshop is conducted by the Anglican Church of Melanesia, the Vanuatu Christian Council and the University of Southampton, UK.
The main purpose of the workshop is to discuss and explore how recent natural hazards have been transmitted into local communities. Through this we hope to better understand the pathways by which multiple hazards affect people’s lives, and what can be done to help improve them after a disaster happens.
And what the short and long-term future might look like for Vanuatu. For example, how economic, political and industrial choices might lead to positive or negative changes in the future. The workshop will explore how Vanuatu’s choices might influence the impact that natural hazards have on different communities.

The workshop is free, and refreshments will be provided during the day.
We will work with all participants to draw up a policy note that could be used to help guide future decisions, and to help guide discussions about how Vanuatu will face a changing climate and future natural hazards.
We hope you can join us for the day. If you or a representative can attend, please let Selwyn Leodoro email@example.com or Joses Togase firstname.lastname@example.org know so we can arrange refreshments and lunch.
