National Tree Planting Day
The Government of Vanuatu, through the National Advisory Board on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Secretariat (NAB Secretariat) is supporting a review of the status of implementation of the Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Review (CPEIR) for Vanuatu.

When disaster strikes, the NDMO must quickly determine the extent and severity of impacts. The Food Security & Agriculture Cluster has been refining its Rapid Technical Assessment methodology using strategic questions as well as cutting edge technology like mobile phone and tablet apps. The Food Security & Agriculture Cluster was proactive and well-organized during the NDMO response to Tropical Cyclone Donna. Despite the political interference that caused many of FSAC recommendations to be overturned at the highest levels, mush was achieved and lessons learned. To capture this, the Ministry of Agriculture will be holding a cyclone Simulation/Lessons Learned activity with all cluster members from Government, civil society, the private sector ad development partners from 10-11 July 2017.
The consequences of climate change and disasters are experienced by all sectors of society, private and public. Despite strong interest and capacity, at present the private sector in Vanuatu tends to play an ad hoc role in climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas emission, disaster response and resilience building activities.
USP will be hosting its first-ever Climate Finance Workshop, a join initiative between the USAID's Adapt and Climate Ready Projects. Drawing on the 6-years experience of the USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific project, which specializes in assisting with the preparation of adaptation projects, the workshops will cover important aspects of the landscape of climate finance then look into the practicalities of developing an adaptation project.
The Department of Environmental Protection & Conservation and FAO will begin implementation of the national GEF5 STAR Ridge to Ridge (R2R) project this year 2017 and are inviting select stakeholders and guests to attend its 2 days national inception workshop. The project is titled: Integrated Sustainable Land and Coastal Management (ISLCM). The workshop date is from 13-14 June 2017 and will be held at Melanesian hotel. The project focus islands are Aneityum, Tanna, Efate, south Pentecost and some ad hoc assistance to Gaua Lake Letas Conservation Area.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Adaptation, the Commonwealth Secretariat and UN Environment have the pleasure to invite you to participate in a Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on the Development of a Law and Climate Change Toolkit, to be held on Thursday 22nd March 2017, from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm.
Pacific Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change will be hosting a stakeholder workshop on the 13th June 2017. The purpose of the workshop is to provide feedback to the stakeholders on the recent Ecosystem and Socio-economic Resilience Analysis and Mapping process done for Port Vila, and then to workshop Ecosystem-based Adaptation implementation options in the Greater Port Vila region.
The Vanuatu Information Services for Resilient Development in Vanuatu (Van CIS RDP) project was approved at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Fifteenth Meeting of the Board in Apia, Samoa from 13-15 December, 2016. The approval was made with a number of conditions and requirements that have been put forward by the GCF Secretariat, the Independent Advisory Panel, and the GCF Board. The one week country consultation workshop will bring together key project stakeholders to work together to make significant and substantial progress towards meeting the conditions placed on the project.

The planned date is 27 March from 9.am to 4.30am, Venue of the workshop is Shefa Provincial Government Conference Room.
