Mangrove Ecosystems are important ecosystems for coastal communities livelihoods by the goods and services it provides to them. With the global changing climate, mangrove has been seen as an important ecosystem that acts as a carbon sink . Therefore it is an important ecosystem that needs to be appropriately and adequately managed for both our Livelihoods and climate change.
As part of the outcome 2 of the MESCAL Project ; Co-Management of Mangroves for Adaptation to Climate Change , IUCN/MESCAL has been carrying out a Desktop Legislation review for all legislation that includes or mention mangrove management since May 2011 by the team in Suva Fiji. The legislation review is now complete and the team will be in Vanuatu to present the findings from the 12-14th of November.
Therefore please find below a tentative program for the team while they are in Vanuatu. We would appreciate if you can make time to meet this team as it s an important way forward for the management of our Mangrove Ecosystems. On the same note, you are invited to attend the presentation on the findings to the legislation review on Monday 12th November 2012 in the Forestry Department Conference Room Tagabe
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
Kind regards
