This is a practical manual to carry out participatory monitoring, evaluation, reflection and learning in community level climate change adaptation programs. It includes guidelines in the use of participatory tools and methodologies.
Document
The CVCA methodology provides a framework for analyzing vulnerability and capacity to adapt to climate change at the
community level. Recognizing that local actors must drive their own future, the CVCA prioritises local knowledge on climate
risks and adaptation strategies in the data gathering and analysis process.

Draft and for Comment in English and French
Document
Concerning the junior Syllabuses, the development is on the process and the writers are supposed to give me their first draft by the end of this week. The first draft is mainly composed of the scope and sequence for year 7 to year 10, the table of learning outcomes which means the strands, sub strands, the learning outcomes and their respective indicators. This is the main components of a syllabus.
We will still have the consultation workshop on 9to 11 October. During the three days, we must have some plenary sessions and group discussions within each subject in order to identify the sequence or the integration of CC and DRR from year 7 to 10.
There are all together 13 syllabuses and more than 50 writers. These are 4 subjects that I really convinced to integrate Climate Change AND DRR Components:
· Science (scientifically aspects of CC and DRR, Natural and Addition GHG, impacts on health and environment, ways of mitigation and adaptation)
· Social Science (Impact of CC and DRR on the environment and the population, ways to mitigate and adapt)
· Agriculture (impact of CC and DRR on the natural and farm ecosystem, ways to mitigate and adapt)
· Civic Education (national, regional and international conventions and laws, NACCC etc… regarding CC and DRR)
There 24 writers of these 4 subjects. Some members of the cluster meeting can also be invited to join the workshop in order to share and propose way forward in terms of CC and DRR.

Islets (Small Island) Vulnerability to Sea-Level Rise: Observations and Assessment of Akham Islet, Malekula
Presented by Morris Harrison
Because sand cays and motus on atolls and platform reefs are low and flat with maximum altitude of no more than several meters, they are highly vulnerable to extreme events (e.g. storm surge and storm force winds) and environmental changes (e.g. sea-level rise).
Such islands are naturally dynamic with erosion, deposition and cementation of sediment occurring concurrently. Akham Islet, off south Malekula is one such island.
Morris Harrison, Geophysicist at VMGD, will present a preliminary observation and assessment of the islet’s present status in light of rising sea-level induced by both tectonic and climatic factors. This talk will be of interest to all people interested in the observable changes of sea-level rise and implications for islets and islands.

Namati’s World – The Dreams and Fears of a Young Coral in the South Pacific
Spectacular underwater video footage, a chance to collect starfish, and a story full of suspense. In Joachim Egger’s web documentary, Namati, a young brain coral, invites kids of all ages to help collect the starfish that threaten her and other coral. She also tells the story of her amazing experiences off the coast of Pele Island in the Pacific archipelago nation of Vanuatu. At 114 years of age, Namati is still a child. Brain corals can live to be over a thousand years old - that is, if they can withstand the effects of global climate change such as the warming of the world’s oceans. And if they can survive the attack of the dreaded Sea Monsters!
