Julie Webb, CARE Australia’s Climate Change Advisor will facilitate the workshop. Julie has been working in climate change for ten years and has been with CARE since 2009. Through her role with CARE she provides technical suppport to projects across the Asia Pacific and in the Middle East and works with CARE International on developing tools and resources to support community based adaptation. Prior to this she has worked with the Red Cross, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability and for the Government of Solomon Islands on the development of their National Adaptation Program of Action.
To get us started, Julie has asked each agency to prepare a short presentation and handout (no longer than 2 pages) covering the following questions:
· What tools / methods has your organization used to gather information from communities?
· What process was used with the community?
· What information sources are being used?
· Are risks being identified? How they are addressed in the project activities?
· How is the information that is being gathered being used in community planning?
If possible include an example of community plan that has come out of the analysis / assessment process
· How has gender been addressed in your work so far?
We will be flexible to ensure that the workshop will be practical and helpful for your program components and the consortium as a whole. It’s a great opportunity to draw on Julie’s expertise to find out everything we always wanted to know about integrating adaptation in our programs to achieve our goal.
Please confirm who will be attending from your organisation. Your new project officers are encouraged to participate.
Looking forward to seeing you next week
Cheers
Dan
