The Terms of Reference for CRRS project requires the project team to develop a methodology for screening roads and coastal infrastructure to ensure that such proposed works are climate resilient. The ToR states the CRRS team should focus initially on the 4 islands currently included in the VTSSP2 program.
The CRRS team recently travelled around the islands in company with members of VTSSP2 and met with the 3 RME’s. In order to consolidate the valuable knowledge gained on site, CRRS would like to hold a workshop in PWD in Port Vila.
The aim of the workshop will be for CRRS to present a draft methodology for climate resilience screening. This methodology will show ways of identifying areas which are vulnerable to climate change and suggest remedies. These remedies must reflect local conditions and constraints. Specific examples will be given for each island. Comments, suggestions and opinions will then be invited from all participants. It is hoped that by the end of the workshop a methodology will have evolved that is based on good science, practical, realistic and workable.
