The Mininstry of Agriculture's DEZA Swiss-German Program on Cyclone and El Nino recovery on Nguna, Pele & Emao is kicking off a back-yard garden program with over 100 houeholds on the islands of Nguna, Pele and Emao. From 11-16 July, experts and key farmers from the Department of Agriculture will lead 2 days workshops on vegetables in backyard gardens and special techniques for El nino and La Nina adaptation. Topics including seed sowing, transplanting, spacing, water requirements, pest and disease, composting and climate variability will be covered.
