Live & Learn Vanuatu (L&L) has joined with key
stakeholders to further drive the campaign against invasive
species in Vanuatu. As part of a four year EU funded
project , L&L have aimed to increase government capacity,
st reamline future planning and build public awareness. In
addit ion to this, the team has developed and t rialled an
innovat ive new Agroforest ry model to curb the spread of
Merremia, or Big Leaf Rope.
Working in partnership with the Department of
Environment and the Department of Bio-Security, a
Nat ional Invasive Species Technical Advisory Commit tee
(NISTAC) and Nat ional Invasive Species Act ion Plan
(NISAP) were designed to allow for effect ive and
integrated act ion on Invasive Species. This commit tee and
act ion plan is now the key driver of invasive planning and
implementat ion throughout Vanuatu.
